Update on Employer Immigration Compliance

The USCIS released yesterday an Updated Handbook for Employers.  Compliance of any nature for employers is important. Immigration compliance on employee’s work authorization is becoming more critical for employers.  The new version of the Updated Handbook provides quite a few changes and updates.  The USCIS’s table of all the changes and updates alone is 53 pages long.

Some of these changes provide additional information related to guidance on completing Form I-9, E-Verify and updated images for employer’s use.  The Updated Handbook also includes new sections that related to extension of Employment Authorization Documents (EAD), Refugees and Asylees with an expired EAD.

Considering the changes and updates supplied by USCIS in the Handbook, employers and Human Resource Professionals need to review the Manual.  Additionally, employers should also consider updating any immigration compliance policies and procedures.

Employers and Human Resource Professionals with questions about compliance changes and updates should contact experienced employment-immigration attorney.
